Abuses in Iraq
I was wide awake by 8:30 this morning which is strange since I had nothing to do until this afternoon (be in my office) other than start to get my apartment cleaned and work on some packing. Tomorrow morning is graduation and I have some family coming into town so I need to make sure you can see things in our apartment - such as the floor, sink, furniture, etc. They seem to have disappeared (or parts of them) during the end of the semester.
Right now (as I am packing up my books - one day I will just stop reading or moving because books are heavy to pack and move) I am watching the Senate Arms Committee - currently Sec. of Defense Rumsfeld is testifying - he started off with an apology.
I wonder how will America be judged by these massive ‘failures of humanity.’ My train of thought has dramtically shifted even from when I started this post - due to the actions of those protesting Rumsfeld. Several protesters were able to sit in the public seating at the hearing and started yelling during the testimony. I throughly believe that accountability needs to occur at all levels, I want justice - but listening them I heard voices of hate.
“In struggling for human dignity the oppressed people of the world must not allow themselves to become bitter or indulge in hate campaigns. To retaliate with hate and bitterness would do nothing but intensify the hate in the world. Along the way of life, someone must have sense enough and morality enough to cut off the chain of hate. This can be done only by projecting the ethics of love to the center of our lives.”
