about the pic
one of the days I will be in bed before this time of night. The departure of the campers and volunteers might help in that process.
I changed my user picture (I could only look at the graduation one for so long). The kid on the left is Jacqlynn - she is six. I met her almost two years ago through the Colonial Apartment Ministry, we took this picture as she was leaving after her first week of camp EVER. Jacqlynn and her brother Joseph have two different last names, coming from two different dads, have a mother that loves them more than anything, but their life and young experiences are so far from my own. Just a few years ago their house was with the constant presence of drugs and alcohol - but not today. Something is different. Several years ago some women from our church were driving in home and passed in front of their apartment complex and their heart was broken becuase of the children that lived there. (At the time this apartment complex was one of the most dangerous and drug invested complexes in town.) What started out as spending time and VBS-style wednesday nights for the kids in the apartment courtyard has transformed into a ministry where things happen daily - once we were asked if we’d like our own apartment. Just this month we were able to take out a lease on the apartment next door - because the ministry needed room to expand.
And because something stirred in hearts of one woman, Jacqylnn’s home is very different - financially, no - but now the family has encountered the risen Lord.
