Someone please explain something to me….
What does the SI swimsut issue have to do with sports? Today it came in the mail to the campus center (someone who lives there has an SI subscription). When I brought in the mail - they just told me to trash it (I was so proud.) But I kept it - something for us as the women of the minstry to talk about together (not the evils of the issue - but other issues that arise from things like this.) When I looked at it, I was shocked to see how far it had gone. There is no way that this should be sent to or able to be purchased by a young kid. (There they wre sitting by the cash register when I went to get coke at the gas station.) Yes I know they can find so much more on the internet. What value does it serve? Please don’t even try and tell me its about the swimsuits (several models weren’t wearing one at all). What message about women does this send to kids, teens, etc?
Here was the final kicker. (I could go on and on - but I will not.) The last page in the magazine has an ad with a picture (full page) with a family on it - dad, mom, kids and all - with some caption about doing something together. What? Talk about an absolute lack of fit.
