Time is an interesting beast.

The season of Lent is now over. I am still processing lessons of comfort and being removed from that comfort (however, my bed is great to have back). 40 days (47 depending on how you are counting).
I learned tonight that one of my high school friends (we were in a group of 3-8 that ran pretty tight from eighth grade until we moved or went off to college), Sherry, lost her mom just a couple of months back. I haven’t seen her since our freshman year of college. It has now been just over eight years since we have been in any real contact. I didn’t even know she was sick.

My first year at Pepperdine is wrapping up this week. Technically, one year happens in the middle of July. Next week, though, is our finals and graduation. It is an exciting place to be - both for what has happened and what lies ahead.

I was in a documentary/movie?

Somewhere in LA right now I am on film. It may never make it off the cutting room floor. I have to decide about releasing it. It happened at a conference. I never intended it to be on film (I knew they were filming the entire time) - it was just intended to be a word of thanks for two people being willing to have the conversation, for not being willing to have to have simple answers and canned approaches, for being willing to take risks, to say this conversation is worth having and it will come at a cost, to really question, to take back something hijacked, to be relevant, to be vulnerable. It turned into a conversation and something so much more. And these moments - all of them are on tape.

Later, we talked about how neither of us expected it to happen - I was just looking for a nap, they were jsut filming. We had met the day before and were able to have good contact on three different times/days.

The taxes are officially filed. Life (or more accurately filing) was much more simple when said state didn’t also have a state income tax and when one could have a happy w-2 (not the exciting 1099-MISC, non-employee compensation - which leads to listing all of the individual expenses used in ministry). Thank you Turbo Tax. See you next April. Maybe.
